The emergence of a new U.S. president in January 2009 brings an opportunity to improve perceptions abroad about the United States, say experts who took part in a March 12, 2008 panel sponsored by CFR.org, New York University's Stern School of Business, and The Economist. But panel members debated the extent to which policy changes could be made that would serve U.S. interests and satisfy international public opinion.
